Hay competed on the 10th season of* The Voice*, where she chose Christina Aguilera as her coach. She began her run on the show with a memorable rendition of Gretchen Wilson’s "Redneck Woman," which impressed Aguilera in addition to her fellow judges, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams. After Hay ultimately selected Aguilera as her coach, she declared that the "Beautiful" singer was her first "girl crush."

Aguilera responded, "Should we just make out now? Let’s just get it over with so we can get to work." The duo then shared a peck on the lips.
