New and disturbing details have emerged in the investigation surrounding the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wifeMichele Singer Reiner.

According to sources with direct knowledge who spoke to TMZ on Monday, December 15, Rob and Michele’s son, Nick Reiner—who is under arrest in connection with his parents’ murders—allegedly checked into a Santa Monica hotel just hours after a heated argument with his father at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party Saturday night.

Nick, 32, reportedly arrived at The Pierside Santa Monica around 4 a.m. Sunday and used his own credit card to secure a one-night reservation. Eyewitnesses told the outlet that Nick appeared ā€œtweaked outā€ at check-in, though they noted there were no visible signs of injury or blood on his body at the time.

Despite booking the room for just one night, the son of the Hollywood legend never formally checked out. When hotel staff entered the room later Sunday morning on December 14, they allegedly discovered a disturbing scene. Sources claim the shower was ā€œfull of blood,ā€ with additional blood found on the bed. Bed sheets were also reportedly used to cover the room’s window.

The hotel stay came shortly after Nick was seen at O’Brien’s party, where multiple sources say he looked out of place. Nick reportedly wore a sweatshirt to the upscale event and kept to himself. TMZ also reported that the two had a ā€œvery loud argumentā€ before Nick left for the night.

Nick was eventually located and arrested approximately 20 miles away in Exposition Park, near downtown Los Angeles on Sunday evening, and booked on murder charges early Monday morning. Family sources also told the outlet that Rob and Michele had struggled for years to help Nick address substance abuse issues, though their efforts were largely unsuccessful.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
