Tom Holland shot to worldwide fame thanks to his role in Spider-Man, and it seems he loves the character just as much as his fans.

The 29-year-old, who has recently been surrounded by rumors that he married Zendaya in secret, first took on the role of Peter Parker in the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War. He reprised the role the following year in Spider-Man: Homecoming, before appearing in the sequels Far From Home (2019) and No Way Home (2021).

Tom has brought his own to the role, with his Spider-Man co-star Hemky Madera revealing there was once an iconic scene in Homecoming that they completely improvised. Hemky, who played Mr. Delmar in Spider-Man, has heaped praise on Tom.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, the 49-year-old said, "That famous scene in the deli between Tom and I, most of it was improv. We were improvising just at the rehearsal, and the director goes, 'Keep it, my God.'"

Hemky said Tom "loved" doing the improvisation and described it as a "fun exchange." He added, "It's one of the funniest scenes in the whole movie."

The Queen of the South actor also heaped praise on Tom, revealing, "It was great working with him." Hemky elaborated, "When I worked with Tom, Civil War was not out yet. So, you know, his stardom wasn't shining so bright. He's done all these amazing films before as a kid, but his star wasn't shining that bright.

"Fast forward to the second film, where they shot in London. I fly to London, and we do a week of filming there. Mega, super, worldwide star. Was the same kid that he was when I first met him, with more attention on him, but his demeanor never changed."

Hemky also met Tom's family at the Spider-Man: Homecoming premiere and described them as "brilliant." He said, "His brothers are so cool, but he's very grounded."

The movie star added, "That always stuck with me of how his parents raised him right, and you know, that comes from within. It was pretty brilliant. So that was pretty cool."

Hemky's comments come as Tom has admitted he wants to be part of the transition when his time on Spider-Man comes to an end, suggesting he's not quite ready to let go of the role just yet.

"For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter," the actor told Empire.

Tom added, "Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset."
