Melissa Joan Hart is sharing the reality behind one of her red carpet looks.

The actress, 50, took to Instagram to compare two photos of herself from the 2013 premiere of Frozen, pointing out the difference between how she appears on the carpet versus in “real life.”

In the first snap, Hart smiles at the camera as she poses in a blue and white gradient bandage dress at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. In the second, she’s captured at a side angle, appearing unaware that the camera is there.

“The difference a little lighting, camera angle and facial expression can make,” she wrote in the caption on Saturday, Aug. 22. “This was at the #Frozen premiere in 2013.” The Sabrina the Teenage Witch alum also included the hashtags “#smokeandmirrors” and “#professionalphotographer vs #reallife.”

Fans in the comments are commending the actress for her transparency.

“Thank you so much for being candid,” one wrote. “You are beautiful in both but we all how different impressions can be crafted by the model, the conditions and photographer to give unrealistic or single views.”

Hart recently celebrated her milestone 50th birthday with a getaway in Lake Tahoe, Nev.

“I’ve been wanting to throw a party in Lake Tahoe for 20 years and finally found the perfect excuse to gather my favorite people in my favorite place,” she told PEOPLE exclusively.

Though her actual birthday was in April, Hart brought together family and friends in late June for a festivity-filled weekend. “Simplicity was the goal this time,” she said. “No fancy parties or themes. I just wanted to spend quality time on the lake. Flip-flops and friends.”

“I always say I would be a party planner if I wasn’t at actor so it was all my favorite spots and foods with all my favorite people,” Hart said of the itinerary, which included bowling and river tubing. “My love language is quality time, so I just wanted to laugh and be present with my friends and family.”
