First Lady Melania Trump was absent from an education event at the White House on Monday. Her absence came right after a viral video showed her in a tense public moment with President Donald Trump over the weekend.

Melania Trump has focused on youth programs and children’s causes. Still, she did not join her husband and Education Secretary Linda McMahon in the Rose Garden for their event on national school choice, as reported by the Irish Star.

The awkward exchange took place as the couple attended the Freedom 250 Grand Prix race in Washington, D.C. According to the footage, the president and the First Lady appeared to engage in a heated discussion before she stood up to leave, according to Metro UK.

Body-language specialist Judi James explained how Melania’s mood appeared to quickly change. James noted, “For much of this appearance, the Trumps’ body language resembled that of a Kardashian on a date night, with fond smiles and tactile rituals like her hand casually and comfortably placed on his thigh or knee and his hand ‘lidding’ her hand clasp that was placed on her own thigh”.

James pointed out that Melania Trump initially seemed very cheerful. “Melania was beaming and extremely animated, probably because this sporting event is one where she attends as a knowledgeable, long-term fan,” James observed.

However, things changed fast. “Her smile has vanished in this clip though, and her behavior suggests she’s keen to make a serious point to her husband. It involves some intense conversation, primarily from her side, but also some intense listening signals, as she leans close to speak directly into his ear, she watches his face to monitor his reply,” James noted.

James Remarked It Represented ‘One of the Most Prolonged Public Moments of Conversation’

The prolonged interaction caught attention because the couple rarely engage in such lengthy conversations in front of cameras. Judi also stressed that this was “one of the most prolonged public moments of conversation between the two”.

Analyzing their body language, she added, “It’s interesting to see Melania looking serious and assertive as she made her points, while Trump nods and then performs a mouth shrug to suggest agreement”. She clarified, “The signals from both of them in this moment tend to suggest that Melania is making a strong point very firmly, but it looks as though it’s something external she’s animated about rather than showing any real suggestion of any conflict or anger aimed at her husband here”.

Meanwhile, professional lip reader Nicola Hickling read their lips during the exchange. Hickling claimed that the president asked, “Was it enough?” to which Melania reportedly said, “That is private and valuable text”. When Melania added, “I don’t know,” Trump allegedly pressed, “Then I need to see it”.

Melania then said, “Donald, listen, I’m gonna go”. Trump reportedly replied, “Listen, she asked you not to close the door”. When Melania asked why, Trump said, “It’s bad news, but it’s bad timing, Melania”. She replied, “That’s crazy,” whispered again, and Trump reportedly muttered, “I’ve had enough of her”.

As Melania pulled back, Hickling claimed she added, “Obviously, I’ll see and talk to her in the morning”.
