Kevin Smith is looking back at a sweet day spent with his late mom Grace on the six-month anniversary of her death.

The *Clerks* filmmaker, 55, paid tribute to his mom, who died at 79 in December, and encouraged others to “go do some fun s---" with their loved ones in a poignant Instagram post on Monday.

“My Mom died 6 months ago today,” Smith wrote. “Rather than curse the darkness, I’m gonna light a candle: In March of 2025, I took Mom to @daveandbusters to play some games. I’m so happy we went that day, because 9 months later, she was gone.”

He continued, “So just a reminder: go do some fun s--- with the older folks in your life who were the architects of *your* happy memories when you were a kid. Miss you, Mom.”

Alongside his caption, Smith shared a video he took during their mother-and-son day of revelry at Dave & Buster’s. In it, Grace can be seen playing a racing game while the *Mallrats* creator pokes fun at her driving skills.

“Don’t forget to use that break from time to time!” he chides as she laughs. “Don’t take your eyes off the road, Grace!”

He then pans the camera over to reveal that his mom had finished last on the track. “Champion results,” he teased. “That’s the first time you’ve driven in a while… This is why they took your license away.” The pair then burst into another fit of giggles.

Smith announced the loss of his mom in a Dec. 2 Instagram post. The news came just two days after the comic book author wrote in separate post that his mother was on the mend in the hospital after suddenly landing "on death's doorstep."

"The bill for 55 years of unconditional love came due on December 1st, and the costly price was having to watch the strongest person I've ever known — my absolute favorite person in the world — exit the stage after a lifetime of setting it for her children,” he wrote. “My Mom is gone.”

He went on to describe Grace as a “lioness” who was “fiercely protective of her pride” as well as his “biggest fan,” adding, “My Mom made me feel like I mattered — to our family, to the world, and especially to her.”

He also noted that “I will miss her for the rest of my days but I also know how lucky I was to have had as much time as I got with my Mom.”

He concluded, “I love you so much, Mom. You’ve always been, and will forever be, my hero. Love, Tiger.”
