You know the old saying, “There’s no time like the present”? Lately, it’s started to feel alarmingly literal. The present tense has become its own aesthetic: immediate, raw, and a little feral.

In such an eruptive era, it’s nearly impossible for any artist to capture the full scope of the zeitgeist. But there are still plenty of people doing the kind of creative work that helps us find some stability on shifting ground by giving us a sense of the landscape through their eyes.
