- McCain called Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry “entitled grifters.”

Former *The View* cohost and controversial political commentator Meghan McCain has once again lashed out at Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry in a scathing statement slamming the British royals.

Amid rumors that the couple will return to the United Kingdom following their 2020 decision to step down from their roles in royal family duties, McCain fired off a critical message about the move earlier this week on X.

“One thing about Americans is we can see through bulls--- and we don’t like entitled grifters,” McCain said in a post that linked to reporting by **’s sister publication, PEOPLE. “They could never hack it here and truly no one gives a s--- about d list [sic] royals.”

The 41-year-old daughter of the late Sen. John McCain finished her note by wishing, “Good luck to our friends in the UK,” and advising, “They’re your problem now.” (EW* *has reached out to representatives for Markle and Prince Harry for comment.)

McCain has long spoken out against the British royals — particularly Prince Harry and Markle. Throughout 2025, McCain, who was a cohost on* The View* from 2017-2021, slammed Markle on the *Happy Hour* talk series amid the release of Markle’s Netflix docuseries *With Love, Meghan*.

Markle “apparently never listens to anyone living in reality,” McCain said of the show, which follows Markle and celebrity guests (including Mindy Kaling) as they share “personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection,” and highlight “how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected,” per the program’s synopsis.

“I cannot stand her. I love people that I can relate to, like every other 40-year-old mom. I don’t want to eat her jam,” McCain added. “I don’t know what she’s doing. This is like her ninth rebrand. I actually had to review her show and her podcast, and it was horrible. It was so boring.”

Earlier that year, she again spoke out against Markle, admitting on X that she “was originally a Meghan Markle supporter” because she “thought she was cool, stylish and refreshing,” but that, “Like the rest of the world, my opinion changed when she disrespected the royal family. Now that she wants to be American again instead of British aristocracy what she seems to forget is Americans want real, raw, uncensored,” McCain said, referencing Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to step down as working royals.

Despite her assertion that Markle “disrespected the royal family,” McCain has also repeatedly criticized the British monarchy in the past. She even once celebrated Markle and Oprah Winfrey’s contributions to dismantling pristine ideals on the royal system’s veneer.

In a heavily memed moment from *The View* in 2021, McCain told Whoopi Goldberg that “monarchies are stupid, the American experiment is the way to go,” and mounted a scathing tirade about Winfrey’s CBS interview with Markle that covered the latter’s exit from royal duties.

“If we have two American women — Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey — who are single-handedly finishing what George Washington and our Revolutionary counterparts did, I’m all for it,” McCain concluded, prompting confused silence from Goldberg, who replied with an unenthusiastic, “Okay.”

Though she’s long criticized British royalty, McCain also previously took a gig writing pieces for the British *Daily Mail** *news outlet following her exit from *The View* in 2021.
