The Dallas Stars have banned a fan from American Airlines Center following an investigation into a group of fans allegedly performing a Nazi salute, a team spokesperson told multiple outlets on Monday.

The unnamed fan was the one who bought the tickets for the group, but the team said that they could not identify and ban the other men in the video.

A video of the group of individuals appearing to perform the gesture, rather than the fist pump motion that Stars fans typically do after goals, went viral on social media last week. The video, which was first shared on Reddit before being posted and shared on X, was taken in December. The fan who took it told WFAA that she reported the group to the arena’s fan misbehavior hotline, but that she did not see anyone from the arena approach them.

In a statement to multiple outlets, American Airlines Center said last week that it had “zero tolerance for any acts of hate and/or discrimination.” The Stars said Friday that they had opened an investigation into the incident, telling ESPN that the team is “fully aligned” with the arena’s statement.

In Monday’s statement, the Stars said that they are increasing their in-arena messaging to further promote the team’s code of conduct and inform fans how to report violations. Individual NHL teams have their own codes of conduct, plus a league-wide fan code of conduct that focuses on respect, inclusion, safety and empowerment.
