Alex Consani revealed the one question that "gagged" her during the vetting process of getting a Hermès Birkin bag

During an appearance on The Good Buy podcast, the model said getting her Birkin "was a really fun experience"

Consani first sought out the bag after walking in the Hermès fall/winter 2025 show

Alex Consani is recalling the rigorous process of obtaining Hermès' famous Birkin bag.

On the Friday, May 29 episode of Harper's Bazaar's The Good Buy podcast, the model, 22, said she became interested in buying the notoriously exclusive handbag after carrying one in the Hermès fall/winter 2025 show.

"They gave me the Birkin for the show and I was like, 'Oh my God, I want to keep it,' " she recalled. "And I tried to take it and security was like, 'We're armed, bitch. Back the f--- up.' And I was like, 'Okay.' But then I talked with the team and I was like, 'Okay, I would love an appointment' ... and I got an appointment when I was in France."

Consani said she was interviewed by a Hermès associate, during which one question nearly tripped her up.

"One of the questions that really gagged me ... they were like, 'It's your perfect day in Paris. Where do you go and what do you do?' In my mind, I was like, 'I know I need to say something better than what I would do, because like, I would say, 'Go to a sh---y bar with my homegirls.' But like, that's not ... I was like, 'Yes, shopping, yes. Yes, I go shopping in Chanel. In Hermès.' "

The associate ended up offering Consani the exact bag she had hoped to get.

"It was a really fun experience and like, I covet that purse a lot," the model said. "I mean, it's part of my staple, specifically publicly, about my wardrobe."

"I think people always associate me with a Birkin, which is fab. Love that," Consani continued. "It's definitely one of those pieces that I'm gonna have forever."

The 2024 Model of the Year has frequently been photographed with her Birkin, which is a black, medium-sized style. She showed off the bag in a Sept. 2025 installment of Vogue's "In the Bag" interview.

The Hermès Birkin bag dates back to 1981 when Hermès' then artistic director, Jean-Louis Dumas, ran into actress and singer Jane Birkin on an Air France flight. He saw her need for a fashionable, yet practical bag when the belongings fell out of her favored wicker basket. In 1985, Hermès asked Birkin to name the silhouette after her.

In July 2025, Birkin's original handbag was auctioned off as part of Sotheby'sParis Fashion Icons sale. The bag was sold on July 10 in Paris to Japanese businessman Shinsuke Sakimoto, who secured the deal for $10.1 million (the bidding originally opened at $1.7 million).
